I found it on the web, and it is good

Sometimes you have a pdf.

And you want to convert it to word.

And you search and search and search the internets in order to find a powerful enough converter so you don't have to hack yourself to bits trying to accomplish 10000 pages in 4 weeks.

And then the gods of the inet smile down on you and deliver you this amazing product -

Solid Documents - Solid Converter PDF v4

It is amazingly accurate. I recommend turning off Headers/Footers conversion and just entering them afterward - it's easier, but overall, I just converted 100 pages in 15 minutes. Images are perfect, text is perfect, no problems or issues at all.

Love it.

Flashbacks and back to Present Day - What and Why

Browsing the blogs this evening, I came across this pic -

(credit goes to McFearsome/SWSX) which flashed me back to the AG08 conference and the presentation by Stefan Sagmeister titled - "Things I've Learned in My Life So Far" - well, this is what I've learned so far while contracting.

If you can't answer these questions when implementing a training solution (especially when I'M your training solution) - then you don't need to be implementing anything (you need to slap palm to face, but that is a whole other story). The last two contracts I've worked have been inexplicably unneeded. Not that I want to talk myself out of work, but I did suggest alternatives to both clients on my first day, but was met with an odd decision path explanation in both cases. What it boils down to is that people aren't doing enough research and aren't held accountable for the end result (that will fall on my shoulders, since I will the long forgotten contractor who did the work).

If this is the only thing I post in my next permanent work home then I will be ahead of the pack.
