Contractor Chronicles #4 - Am I done?

I have a contract that I started back in August that was supposed to last till the end of September.

It's not done yet (but not due to anything on my part).

I really need to keep moving forward with either a) another contract or b) permanent employment.

So am I good to go with this contract? You know, I'm not so sure. The work's not done, but the time limit is up. I'm not even sure I'm working with a contract at this point, if I was to do anything for the project it's technically after the end date. So do I see the light at the end of the tunnel?
